Making Well Designed Business Cards For Your Small Business
How many business cards do you suppose you have viewed in your lifetime? Are there any tacked up on a bulletin board nearby? Are they stacked up in a corner of your desk, or tied together with rubber bands in a cubby? How often do you go back to them, even the very oldest you possess? Chances are that you are using them all of the time without even realizing it at all.
As far as advertising goes, the little handout with your information on it is probably the most popular of all time. This is for very good reason, to be sure. These tiny items can contain a wealth of info, all while being enjoyable and informative at the same time. They can show who you are to a very good advantage.
Since this calling card that represents you can be so all important, you want to include on it some very basic, but very vital information. First and foremost is you name. Put your name on there above all else, including the business logo, because this card is all about how to reach you yourself, and no other. You are the one handing out the thing in hopes of getting a call back, right? Make sure they know whom to ask for when they do.
Contact information is a main purpose of the giveaway. You should always include at least one telephone number and an email address. Include a physical address if you rely on foot traffic or postal mail, but if you exist online this will not be necessary. You can always include the business address and phone numbers, but again, the thing is all about being able to reach you.
Include a short line or phrase, often a snappy motto or slogan is perfect, to let the reader know exactly what kind of business you are in. Many an attractive card becomes worthless when the reader forgets exactly who gave them the card, and where. You can have the shiniest and most unique card available, but if it cannot be known what it is that you do, it is almost worthless.
Speaking of uniqueness, do try and make it so. But do not use designs that cannot be easily deciphered, or fonts that are ridiculously convoluted. Your presentation can be bright, wild, crazy, and fun but it must be clearly legible. If the printing is too far out no one can discern the necessary information in order to reach you.
Do stay up to date with your marketing as well. Nothing looks quite as tacky as an old card with the old numbers crossed off and new numbers scrawled on the back. When you change locations or contact information for any reason at all, be sure to get new cards at the same time. They are always economical enough to do so, and it is good representation for you.
Business cards are one key connection point between you and many others. Keep yours sharp and modern, up to date, and professional. By doing so you will be putting the best foot forward in meeting with new clients, customers, or any others that you would like to keep in touch with. These are great tools, so make yours one to be remembered by.
