What software or program can I use to make wine labels?

A friend of mine makes his own wine, and he is not computer literate at all! He is talking about signing up for computer classes Excel and things like that, which I KNOW is totally irrelevant to making custom made labels?
What can I suggest for him, he just wants to be able to make sticker labels for his wine bottles.

Fireworks is a very easy program.

The GIMP is just like Photoshop (functionality-wise) and it is free, as in free beer.

For the labels themselves you have a few options, for small scale projects you can have stickers made (since that’s all commercial labels are anyways), usually they’ll cost 5 cents a piece if you have 100 made. That’s the price at the press shop just down from my office.

You could get sticker stock ( I don’t really know where to get that off hand) you can print them yourself using an inkjet printer.

I used to make up some gel wash and lotion with scents for friends and I might want to start doing it again but to sell this time so I need a good company that makes the plastic labels with custom information on them that I give, to put on plastic bottles so that they will be professional looking for me to maybe sell.

You should really learn how to do your own on photoshop or word if you want to keep you costs down and profit up.

Having a printer is capable of printing out labels to make it much easier for you to get your storage organize. Imagine having all the bins filled with winter clothes off a winter clothes, while all the ones full of your children’s old toys clearly state the fact that poison them.

You do not have to simply limit yourself to names. You can even add little descriptions or details of the items inside. If it is a box of photograph albums from the year 1995, label it so. If it is part of your favorite book collection, alphabetize that collection and label it accordingly.

There are also tape label printers which are not printers at all, if you are looking for something a bit simpler. These printers simply indent a tape with the words that you need.

Where can I get a custom keg?

I want to get a custom labeled keg for my dads home-brew beer. I think he would really like it, but I can’t really find one. Any size keg would be great, but I want it so it can have a custom label on it.

Kegs are made of stainless steel (well mostly). If he kegs his beer in corney kegs, they will me made of stainless steel. Most brewers I know really don’t out anything on the kegs. Some do polish them. If you really want you can have it silk screened or painted. I just leave mine as they are (although a few extra would be a nice present). I don’t see them unless I am cleaning or filling one. Most of the time it sits in the freezer I modified to dispense beer (it has a tap tower on it).
